Junior
After the Initial creation rite, a Shoggoth begins life as a pupae before morphing into a Proto-Shoggoth and eventually falling into one of the almost infinite subspecies that we catalogue every day.
Shoggoths do not have parents and are incredibly hardy creatures, therefore never going through a "juvinile" stage in which it would need protection.
Junior us a singularly perplexing specimen as it seems to actively regress into a state in which it never lived.
This choice of infantalism is not something we can explain and would normally discourage, however the cries and gurgles of the creature are the closest we have found to a Shoggoth mimicking human speech. If we can manage to coax a useful conversation from the being, it may prove useful in our ongoing work!
